What I do in my Job
The United States Sentencing Commission is an independent agency in the judicial branch and is responsible for the sentencing policy of the United States Courts. I monitor congressional activities to incorporate new legislation into our federal sentencing guidelines. I meet with a variety of members of the legal community to receive their input on criminal policies to make policy neutral, informed decisions that guide our nation’s criminal system.
Coolest Thing About my Job
I love knowing that what I do matters. Every day, I am making a difference in the lives of defendants, victims, and families. It is a true honor to serve America.
Why I chose Federal Service
The private sector cannot match the amount of responsibility I was given directly out of school. I face unique challenges every day and work with an office full of people who truly care about their work.
Most Important Issue the Nation is Facing
Our nation changed on 9/11 and it will never be the same. The national security issues we face are more real than ever and solutions are not simple. The federal government has the incredible task of guarding our borders, air, land, and sea, creating laws to protect us, and having a judicial system prepared to right any wrongs.
