Description: Student Temporary Employment program (STEP):
This program enables you to obtain a part time job while you are attending school. These positions are not necessary related to your academic field of study.

Student Career Experience Program (SCEP):
This program, sometimes referred to as the Co-op program, offers work experiences directly related to your academic field of study. It provides formal periods of work and study while you are attending school. SCEP is a structured program that requires a written agreement by all parties (the U.S. Coast Guard, the institution, and the student) as to the nature of the work assignments, the schedule of work assignments and class attendance.

Federal Career Intern was created to bring talented people into the government at the entry level for a two-year appointment. These federal career intern positions must include a training component. After two years, successful interns can become regular civil service employees.
